NORBERTO LAZARO DELAGARZA SENTENCED AFTER PLEADING GUILTY TO HEROIN CHARGES
NORBERTO LAZARO DELAGARZA, IV, 24, a resident of Laredo, Texas, was sentenced today by U. S. District Court Judge Ivan L.R. Lemelle to 84 months imprisonment, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten. In addition to term of imprisonment, Judge Lemelle imposed five (5) years of supervised release following the term of imprisonment, during which time the defendant will be under federal supervision and risks an additional term of imprisonment should he violate any terms of his supervised.
NORBERTO LAZARO DELAGARZA, IV pled guilty on August 8, 2012, to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute one kilogram or more of heroin.
The prosecution of DELAGARZA followed an investigation by the Louisiana State Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration in which DELAGARZA was identified as a distributor of heroin. DELAGARZA was transporting heroin from Texas to Philadelphia via Amtrak train.
According to court records, beginning at a time unknown and continuing until about June 18, 2012, DELAGARZA did knowingly and intentionally combine, conspire, confederate and agree with other persons known and unknown to the grand jury to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute one kilogram or more of heroin.
The investigation was conducted by Special Agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Louisiana State Police. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Andre’ Jones.
